Master Unit

Teko Telecom Master Unit is the core of Sirius, the common platform for our wide range of scalable, flexible and future-proof Coverage Systems.

Stand-alone Modular Repeaters, Optical Systems as well as integrated Coverage Solutions share this versatile, modular, rack-based equipment, operating in the 380 to 2700MHz frequency range, with different frequency combinations and different RF power levels (Low, Medium, High and Very High).

Architecture

The Master Unit hosts the Supervision Module for the management of the entire Coverage System and, depending on its components configuration, it is able to provide:

− the RF interface towards the signal source (BTS, Node B, e-Node B, Repeater)
Master Unit RF Interface modules can be Point of Interface modules (POI), connected to the signal source via coaxial cable and/or Donor Front End modules (TDFE), driven off-air by radio base stations.

− the RF interface towards Service Antennas/leaky cable
The Master Unit Service Front End is the RF interface between the Coverage System and a Service Antenna (or leaky cable), providing wireless signal to the area to be covered.

− the optical interface towards Remote Units (Optical Systems)
The Master Unit Fiber Optic Transmitter/Receiver modules are the optical interface towards Remote Units: they provide RF to optical /optical to RF conversion.

The Master Unit can be equipped with Point to Point Optical Modules (Master and Slave) to allow a separation distance -up to 20km- between Fiber Optic Transmitter/Receiver modules and RF interface modules (POI and TDFE).

Due to the Master Unit high modularity, our Coverage Systems can be easily expanded or upgraded to rapidly adapt to changes in needs and conditions, for example in case of re-sectorisation (by simply re-combining in the Master Unit the signals coming from the different sources), addition of other operators or new services.

Due to its flexibility, the Master Unit can drive Systems with different power classes: this provides a flexible solution to distribute capacity or extend coverage into different locations at the same time.

System Supervision and Control

 - Alarm forwarding: SNMP trap, SMS, e-mail. Software configurable dry contacts can be connected to BTS;

- Remote Unit Control: Signalling and supervision over fibre from Master Unit to Remote Unit and vice versa;

- Local Maintenance Terminal: Graphical User Interface via Ethernet interface to any laptop (Web page browser);

- Access protection;

- OMC (Operation Management Centre) connection: Via LAN connection, wireless modem, analogue modem. Secure connection available via VPN. SNMP Interface towards NMS supported.
