Teko Telecom Remote Unit is a device connected via fiber optics to the Master Unit. It provides coverage in shadow areas (where the RF signal is not available) or capacity in hot spots (where operators want to have a dedicated coverage).
A passive system (antenna network or radiating cable) can be used to distribute the RF signal from each Remote Unit throughout the area to be covered.
The Teko Telecom Remote Unit is available in several bands and various band combinations in only one box. The unit has been designed to be completely transparent to any protocol or modulation, including GPRS, EDGE, TETRA, HSDPA, HSUPA, EV/DO, EV/DV, LTE, etc.
Moreover, the equipment is available in 4 different power classes using multi-carrier amplifiers (Very High, High, Medium and Low Power), that can be driven simultaneously by the same Master Unit. This provides a flexible solution to distribute capacity or extend coverage into different locations (indoor and outdoor) at the same time, for example in tunnels, undergrounds, airports, high rise buildings, shopping malls and campuses.
Various network structures can be supported: the Remote Units of the same Optical System can be deployed with a point-to-point connection (star configuration) using one fiber optic per Remote Unit (WDM technology), or with cascading of up to 5 Remote Units using a single fibre and optimized optical splitters.
The cost of the system installation and the related commissioning are minimized as the system compensates the optical link loss of the different Remote Units using an auto-levelling functionality (AGC): this guarantees constant gain over different link budgets and avoid field adjustements.
